Does Alleviate work for NGOs outside the United States?
Yes. Alleviate prices by country (middle income countries pay about 57 percent of the US price and lower income countries about 30 percent), carries compliance frameworks for 48 countries, offers the interface in English and French, and has readiness assessment participants from 33 countries. The platform is hosted in the United States.
Price by country
The organization's country sets the price on the server, so every organization sees exactly what it would pay: the US list price in high income countries, about 57 percent of it in middle income countries such as South Africa, Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, India and Brazil, and about 30 percent in lower income countries, rounded to whole dollars a month. Billing is in US dollars.
Compliance and language
The compliance engine holds the filing and registration frameworks of 48 countries, including the NPO, PBO and section 18A requirements in South Africa and the NGO board returns in East Africa. The interface is in English and French, with other languages partially translated. The platform uses each market's own term: NPO in South Africa, NGO in Kenya, Nigeria and Ghana, civil society organization where that is the term.
Hosting and data protection
The platform and its database are hosted in the United States with the protections described on the security page; the data processing addendum at /dpa covers transfers for organizations under the GDPR, POPIA and similar laws. Organizations that must keep data in their own country should check that requirement before signing up.
